2nd Be Greater Than 15 is fundraising for PERSATUAN SOKONGAN ANAK-ANAK KANSER (PESONA)

My Story
Hello everyone! I started Be Greater Than 15 in 2022. Some called it a crazy plan, while others thought it was a badass one. In 2022, I ran a 100km to raise funds for two organizations in honor of my late brother Carl, or more fondly known as Mo, who passed away from Advanced Metastatic Ewing Sarcoma in 2018. I'm no runner, so this idea was absolutely nuts to many who know me. But I remember when my brother told me this, "I was given 15% chance of survival, I'm gonna be more than that 15%. They're gonna see me in the history books." He proved it after a year of fighting. Though sometimes God has better plans for you after and my brother passed away when he relapsed three months after remission. My brother was my best friend, and many called us twins because of our sneaky pranks. A part of me broke and left with him, ultimately changing me as a person. He taught me the meaning of being an awesome human being, and the only way I can repay him is by keeping his legacy alive.
My brother was a giver. Even if he had one spoonful left on his plate, he'll always ask, "Want the last bite?" There was always a way of him trying to help others, even if it meant putting aside his troubles. When he was being treated at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital in San Francisco, California, he never failed to put a smile for the doctors, nurses, and patients. We were foreigners in another country. The thought of getting medical care seemed non-existent due to the financial burden it can bring. So when my brother was diagnosed, we were thrown into the unknown. He was not fit to travel back to Malaysia, and to receive medical treatment in the US would be a financial blow. We bit the bullet and agreed to let him receive his treatment in the US. Our social worker did wonders and helped us with getting us a medical plan to support us in acquiring his medication and treatment. When we found out he was not going to recover and we had to make plans to bring him home, we were terrified to know what we had to pay for his total medical bill. Our doctors and social worker pulled us aside and said, "Go home, spend time with him, and don't worry about anything." Mum always said, it's what he has done in his life that has given him this gift to be cared for so well by others.
To know that we were so well taken care of by people from a different country makes me want to help our people even more. So for my 2nd Be Greater Than 15 initiative, I will be fundraising for Persatuan Sokongan Anak-Anak Kanser (PERSONA), an NGO based in Kuantan who are working to create medical access for pediatric cancer patients and their families who have no means of getting basic treatment. They need every kind of resource and logistics to get these kids proper treatment and a chance to actually be a kid. I will be doing 1000 specific exercise reps for the month of September, which so happens to also be Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and I hope you can help support or even just spread the good word! My brother kept saying people are going to see him in the history books as a figure of speech, and that is just what I am going to do. Keep his legacy alive, and spread the kindness he has shared with so many. So let's get it!
