In October 2016, super typhoon Lawin hit Cagayan and brought damage too great that until now, the province is not yet completely restored. The aid from various sectors that came immediately after the calamity and the Cagayano resilience are a guarantee that the province will rise again, though slowly. The number of casualties are fewer than expected. However, the terror experienced by families as they huddled under the killer winds and dilapidated roofs with only prayers to protect them is enough reason for me to advocate disaster preparedness. Never  shall we let this happen again to our fellow Cagayanos or to anyone in the Philippines. "
