In light of the recent flood that has affected the lives of thousands of Malaysians, The Kalsom Movement (TKM) is launching this fundraiser to help the flood victims in every way possible be it in the form of food, clothings and essential aids. With the flood displacing families from their home and properties being damaged and lost, our fundraiser aims to focus on the recovery of underprivileged students to get back on their feet and continue with their studies. We believe education holds the highest regards in a child’s upbringing and in these trying times, we as Malaysians must come together and show support to one another. Our team is currently diligently reaching out and identifying students that would need financial support to replace damaged and lost gadgets, school supplies or even monetary aid. The list of beneficiaries will be posted here in the coming week. #TheKalsomMovement #KalsomFloodRelief #FloodReliefFundraiser

The Kalsom Movement (TKM) is a student-led charity organisation that focuses on education inequality in Malaysia. TKM has been established in 1994 and has benefitted over 4,000 beneficiaries across all states in Malaysia! TKM is endorsed and is supported by the Malaysian government through the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the Education Council in the United Kingdom and Ireland (UKEC). Our main goal is to decrease the educational gap in Malaysian society by encouraging university students from wherever they are to help our younger economically disadvantaged Malaysian students to achieve their ambitions. As part of this year’s initiative, we are introducing a more versatile fundraising activity by developing a nation-based donation drive that will be channelled to the TKM’s main donation drive. Just like Katara and Sokka from the Northern Water Tribe in Aang: The Last Airbender, we as the members of the tribe are hoping to help the underprivileged students just as they are our family members and close friends. As the members of the water tribe, we believe that the spirit of balance and peace in this world could be restored if there is a two-way action of giving and take among individuals. In the tribe’s culture, the ethos of kindness and abnegation are like the moon ray shining on the sea of those in need. Therefore, we are creating this Ramadan Donation Drive as a fundraising initiative for education empowerment for the economically disadvantaged students from Sabah, Pahang, Selangor, Terengganu, P. Pinang dan Kedah. This empowerment initiative will be done continuously for a year through:1) Online motivational camps 2) Guidance from selected facilitators3) Empowerment of the use of English. We ask for your kind service to jointly practice the concept of infaq by donating to The Kalsom Movement through our nation’s donation channel! Our goal is to decrease the educational gap in society by encouraging university students to help younger economically disadvantaged Malaysian students to achieve their ambitions.

Education inequality is an issue that has plagued the nation for as long as we can remember, recently made worse as students struggle to adapt to the new normal. The youth should be given a fair chance and an even playing field, but that is not our reality. Far too many underprivileged students go about their days feeling inadequate and directionless through no fault of their own. A path forward can be hard to picture when all the doors look closed. This Ramadhan, as a team representing The Kalsom Movement, we hope to guide these youths to open doors with your help. The Kalsom Movement is a student-led charity organisation that solely focuses on tackling education inequality in Malaysia. We are held together by dedicated individuals in higher education who strive to make a change in the community.Since 1994, our movement has held annual motivational camps all around the country and reached over 4,000 beneficiaries. The overarching goal of our initiatives is to inspire and empower students who belong to the B40 families living in poverty-stricken areas. This year, we will be benefitting secondary school students from Penang, Kedah, Pahang, Selangor and Terengganu via online platforms. How do our initiatives assist underprivileged students? Our programmes are designed to bridge the knowledge and opportunity gap experienced in rural areas. The emphasis is to encourage students to develop interest and competency in English, expose them to educational pathways they may not have been aware of and develop their academic and non-academic skills. Due to the closeness in age, close bonds have been formed between beneficiaries and facilitators which has provided beneficiaries with a safe space to share their troubles and a supportive environment to hone their skills. We are very proud of our work and the impact it has had in boosting the self-esteem and personal development of our past beneficiaries. How can you help?Simply donate and spread the word. As we are a voluntary organisation comprised of students, we rely on sponsorships and donations to keep our initiatives running at full capacity. All funds collected are not for us but the betterment of our beneficiaries that are bursting with potential. Our goal as a team is to reach RM 2,500 in donations for our organisation in this blessed month of Ramadhan. Every contribution counts and no amount is too little! Don't delay and share your blessings today. To find out more about The Kalsom Movement, Visit our website: http://www.kalsom-movement.org/Read our annual reports: https://issuu.com/projekkalsom

We came up with this idea out of a random Whatsapp call. I was eating chips while my friend was munching chocolates and, it was at that moment we realized where we could take our tastebud on an adventure. We could come up with with 'ingredients' that may seem odd as a pair at first glance; but, with the right harmony of spices and condiments, the flavors will come together to provide a tasteful blend of robust flavors. The message behind this is for us to show everyone out there, that the oddest pair might just be the right pair. On top of that, it shows how different ingredients can come together to create a harmonious and wonderful blend. Just like how, people of different backgrounds and history are able to overcome their differences so long as there is a 'sauce' that holds the 'flavor' together. And that, is how we came about the Mystery Box Masterchef Challenge!

I decided to use this platform to give back to children of Malaysia through my hobby. Over last 8 months, I've been training for British Universities and College Sports Championship for Powerlifting. I started as a novice, with no lifting background and my general strength was sub-par. After rigorous training programs provided by my coach and the support I received UCL Barbell Club, I've made serious gains! I've seen my numbers increases tremendously. Powerlifting is an individual sport but it takes the right team to help you achieve the numbers one needs. Therefore I solely believe that everyone in this world can achieve their goal, given the right conditioning. I'm raising RM 1500 (GBP 270) over the course of 4-weeks until my competition in end of March. As I seek to raise these funds, I also am challenging myself to break my personal best (PB) I've had previously at 92.5 kg for squats, 45 kg for bench press and 100 kg for deadlift. My new goal is to squat 102.5 kg, bench press at 50 kg and deadlift at 110 kg. I hope the outcome of this fundraising is positive at both ends.
