About Lending Project

Mitra Usaha Kecil (MUK), through our women's empowerment program, supports Balinese women in agriculture, trade and small business segments through microloans and training (training is provided for free). MUK targets working for the success of women in Bali, because as well as being housewives, they are determined hard workers who pursue different types of work, such as agriculture, livestock, trade and services, to support the family's livelihoods including education for their children.

We are raising a group loan of IDR100 million (~USD7,500) to support 10 women in 2 regions of Bali, that are mainly focused on trade. Prospective borrowers will be joined into a group and will be manage by MUK through training that is appropriate to the type of business they run. They typically complete a 5-day training course with MUK before loan disbursements are made. With knowledge and insight, they will be able to significantly boost the success of their businesses and run it responsibly. MUK is also passionate about focusing on environmental sustainability as part of the training.

Please support by lending to this project. It is a loan (not a donation) that will change the lives of our borrowers, their families and communities. Loans will be repaid in 24 months.

Bali is well known by the world as a tourist destination, with beautiful cultural, natural and beautiful beaches and landscapes. However, not all areas of Bali is a tourist area. There are still many remote areas of Bali that do not have benefit from the yields of the tourism business. There is an imbalance between the two regions.

People in remote areas usually pursue agriculture, trade and small business such as a kiosk to support their family. They are people who do not have access to loan funds from the Banks due to the limitations of the requirements they have, like collaterals and guarantees. They sometimes become bankrupt due to loans from moneylenders at high interest rates.

MUK is a microfinance institute in Bali that focuses on assisting low income groups by providing training, business consultation and loans, with the intention of improving the livelihoods of families in Bali. MUK offers both individual and group “Trust Bank” loans.

Great cause! I'm part of the Simplygiving team and these initiatives are what make Microfinance such a great idea and why we are excited about using our network to make a difference. I'm throwing in personally, taking a $400 risk and will be delighted if these ladies make a go of their business and pay me back. Join the revolution in social lending, you won't be disappointed.
