Hello everyone! My name is Clarissa On and I started the Cinta vs. Covid charity drive during the pandemic. The project objective was to distribute care packages to 400 families to keep them safe and nourished during this trying time, and we collaborated with two non-profit organizations (NGO) to help achieve this. Thanks to all of your generous donations, we successfully raised more than RM30K in 2 months. With these funds, we coordinated with wholesalers to obtain discounted prices for bulk purchases of food and sanitization products. I worked closely with volunteers from each NGO to prepare and distribute the care packages together.
Over the course of two months, multiple donation drives were carried out. My first donation drive was for the diabetic patients in less privileged areas who still had to make daily visits to the dialysis centers for insulin injections, despite not having funds to purchase basic sanitization products such as mask and hand sanitizers. During that drive, we distributed basic necessities to this group of people to ensure that they can still safely receive the healthcare treatment they need during this time. Throughout the next few months, care packages were delivered to underprivileged, disabled and elderly communities.
In total, we exceeded the original project target by providing to 463 families!
I found this experience incredibly enriching, and it served as a sober reminder to always count the blessings I have received and keep the blessings flowing from me to others. I aspire to live selflessly and keep finding ways to help other reach their goals. I seek to take risks, embrace all results, even failure, and live unfettered from my own doubt. Although I was only able to provide to 463 families out of the thousands, I hope that my efforts to spread awareness has inspired others to reach out to the underprivileged.
