THE SOMALI WOMEN ASSOCIATION MALAYSIA (SWAM)

SWAM is a non-profit, Somali Women organization established to support and promote independence, women leadership, entrepreneurship spirit and strong community, cultural and family values amongst the Somali refugee women in Malaysia.

Our vision is to create an actively supportive refugee women circle which will empower women and their families to thrive economically , provide a safe and secure environment, offer community building services such as Counseling and access to personal development and enrichment for quality living.

The Somali community based in Malaysia are under UNHCR, they are refugees and asylum seekers.

OUR CENTER
Somali women center is a center which provide different services/projects for the refugee women, girls and children. most of these women are single mum, widowers with orphans, cancer survivors, Sexual gender based violence survivors, chronic health problems and also mental health issues. most of them they are illiterate and cannot communicate  Bahasa Malaysia or English, they are unable find jobs or send their children to school. 

Hence, Somali women is running a child center which they can send their children to us also providing Malay and English courses for them to attend so that they will be able to access to change their lives and their children's one for better.
  • Monthly rental is 1500rm
  • Utility is 400rm
  • Wi-Fi bill is 150rm
We are raising Rm24,600 for one year sponsorship for the rental and utility bills so the center will remain open for these refugee  beneficiaries.
