My Story
Wong Choi is now the sweetheart of our family!
However, this female mongrel has a sad story behind......
Wong Choi was terribly sick when SPCA
inspectors rescued her
from a public toilet in Sheung Shui in March 2016. She was anemic, very thin, and had a massive tumor the size of a
pineapple on her right front leg that exuded a foul odor of infection and made
it too painful for her to walk. Yet, despite the agony she was suffering,
her tail wagged every time she met someone new. The
SPCA veterinary surgeons amputated her affected leg -- the tumor was a nasty cancer
-- and stoic Wong Choi made a full and successful recovery after
surgery. In no time at all she learned to balance perfectly on three legs and
her happy-go-lucky personality remained unchanged.
In early August, we visited the SPCA Adoption
Centre and fell in love with her at the first sight. And guess what -- we
also have a three-legged cat!
Wong Choi now is living
happily with us, yet everyday there are so many animals
being abandoned,
abused or injured. Though our beloved Wong
Choi cannot walk for a long distance, we will still show
up and support the SPCA Dogathon (
www.spca.org.hk/dogathon
). We hope our presence can help other unfortunate furry friends!
