My Story
Dear friends & family,
Living in Asia teaches us a lot. Life in Singapore is very comfortable and offers a lot of convenience - this is not representative for the region, the daily challenges and problems many people are facing every day.
Healthcare is one of the big problems. Coming from Switzerland and living in Singapore where high quality healthcare is available makes it easy to forget that for the majority this is not granted, not even the basics as having access to a doctor or medication.
Even though there have been some vast improvements to healthcare in Cambodia over the last two decades many health challenges remain for children. Nearly half of all children in Cambodia are suffering from malnutrition, which makes them more vulnerable to illnesses, many of which are preventable. On top of that, quality, affordable health is limited especially in rural areas where 80% of families still live in poor conditions. That is why as many as 500 families travel across the country every single day to Angkor Hospital for Children (AHC), to receive free, high quality healthcare.
We feel very blessed being able to participate in this fundraiser run. For Fabienne it is now 18 month since her knee surgery and slowly it's recovering. This is not only the first race ever for her but also a personal dream being able to run again and what better motivation than to help children :-)
