Mrs Duong Thi Tuyet is one of the approximately 150,000 people in Vietnam who are told they have cancer, every year. Mrs Tuyet lives in a rural area and because of a critical shortage of trained Cancer specialists, her diagnosis came very late.
She needs to undergo at least 6 rounds of radiotherapy costing around US$5,400. If Mrs Tuyet was diagnosed earlier, the costs would be significantly smaller and she would have a far better chance in her battle against Cancer.
The sooner we can provide essential training, the more lives we can save through preventative action, early diagnosis and better treatment.
