Mr Lim has been transferred to Society for The Aged Sick in Hougang, and will be cared for on a long-term basis. We will be using donations to help pay for his bills and Mr Lim's son is very grateful to all donors for their generosity.

We have spoken on the phone with Mr Lim's son again today and he mentioned that the other well wishers did not get back to him on the first month of payment for the nursing home. Thus, we would like to raise for another month, making it a total of 3 months of nursing home fees for Mr Lim.

Mr Lim Chwee Leong, 64 years old, was taking the escalator up at Bishan MRT station on 12 November 2016 when he fell backwards. He suffered serious head injuries and slipped into a coma. From the day of the accident till present, Mr Lim still remains comatose, sometimes opening his eyes but hardly recognises any of his family members or responds to what they say. The trauma to the right side of his brain, where doctors had operated on to remove a blood clot, has caused drastic changes to his memory and recognition abilities. Mr Lim also underwent an incision in his windpipe so as to help him to breathe. Prior to this fall, he has existing medical issues such as diabetes and high blood pressure. Mr Lim's son mentioned that his father's diabetes has caused his wounds to recover slower and he is unsure if his father will fully recover and how long he will take to recover.

Doctors have also advised that Mr Lim be put in a nursing home after he is discharged so that he will receive the proper care. The family is concerned about the medical bills, which have already depleted his father's Medisave and their savings, as well as the nursing home fees that they eventually have to pay. Mr Lim's children work on a freelance basis and they worry about the future. Mr Lim’s son has even taken up an additional job so that he can cope with the increasing expenses.

Other well-wishers have stepped forward after the news was published to help the family with the first month of nursing home fees. ROHI would like to raise S$4,600 for the following 2 months of Mr Lim's nursing home fees so that the family can focus on saving up and tide over the Lunar New Year.
