I am fundraising money for Mercy Malaysia to provide sufficient screening, food, medication and essential care packs to the migrant workers. Please support the migrant workers who have sacrificed their day and night to building your luxurious homes for you to live in.

My Story

I was first moved by the plight of migrant workers quarantined in their rooms at the dormitories in Singapore and in Malaysia. After learning about the uncomfortable truth about the living condition of migrant workers and reading the news about the mass screening of COVID-19 which will be conducted for migrant workers in Malaysia, I am prompted to help these migrant workers who are working in our home country. Today, according to unofficial estimates, up to six million foreign workers are in Malaysia, or 18.6 per cent of the country's 32.6 million population - Malay Mail, 27 Nov 2019 As Malaysians living overseas, we cannot be with our families during this time but we must count ourselves fortunate. Like us, the migrant workers travelled from far to earn a living for their families back home but unlike us who have the luxurious comfort of our private homes to stay in during the lockdown/circuit breaker, a group of 20 migrant workers are confined to a small room, forced to make do with filthy toilets and kitchens. Some even have to cook on the floor, not to mention the food they eat are not enough for the amount of energy they need for their labour job. They are the ones who build our luxurious condominiums and apartments. But they themselves live in horrendous condition. With that knowledge, I am fundraising for Mercy Malaysia to provide more nutritious food and care packs (which will include the essentials e.g. medications, daily essentials) for the migrant workers. Perhaps, also provide them with sufficient mobile data so they can call home to their families and tell them that they are safe and taken care of. Note: If you are working in Singapore, a dollar may seem a small amount, but every dollar donated means RM3 for a migrant worker in Malaysia.
