My Story
When Lily’s 6-years old son Alfie was recently diagnosed with aplastic anemia (bone marrow disease), we decided to challenge ourselves in solidarity with what Alfie and Lily’s family are going through. We are 16 CM1 C &D students willing to overcome our fears, train hard and complete an almost 2.5km open water swim in solo or in 2-kids relay around Middle Island, on Saturday 11thJuly 2020.
Weather has not dented our determination - we had faced a few storms recently but continued with our swim and were rewarded by rainbows. You can follow the progress of our intense trainings on our blog: https://cm1swimchallenge.wixsite.com/mysite.
Aplastic anemia is an autoimmune disease in which the body fails to produce blood cell in sufficient numbers. Blood cells are produced in the bone marrow by stem cells that reside there.The proceeds of our fundraising efforts will be directed towards Lily’s family to support directly and indirectly Alfie’s medical treatment.
