PLEASE HELP ME REACH MY TARGET! In the first week of December (soon after by birthday), I am flying over 1000 miles to a mountainous rural town called Bario in Sarawak, Malaysia to serve the people of the community for 16 days. The "mountain-view" mission of this trip is to help the women earn an income through eco-tourism. This is something I have never done before and will certainly push me beyond my leadership, emotional, physical and mental boundaries. Over this 16-day period, I shall be doing the following: 1. Living with and teaching English Language to a particular family in the community, so that they can communicate more effectively with tourists, becoming better tour guides and homestay hosts. 2. Helping the family with their daily chores and tasks such as farming, washing, cleaning, cooking etc. 3. Carrying out larger community services like cleaning specific areas of the town such as the dam, Church etc. I want to do this, ending this wonderful year 2014, with gratitude to God, my parents, mentors, friends and all who have encouraged, supported, and inspired me over the past year. Through this, I also want inspire more young people to become more conscious and deliberate about their contribution to society in the coming year, 2015. Please help me reach my target by donating. Over the past 12 months, I have been humbled by opportunities to inspire many young people within Malaysia and beyond. I couldn't be more thankful for the privilege of speaking to students from high schools and universities to sharing stage with Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus (Nobel Peace Prize Winner), speaking to about 2,000 youths. I want to dedicate my Bario service in thanks! I believe leadership is not words but in action. It is not in status but service. And it is not in position but purpose. I want to lead by example. Doing this is going to be challenging, but after all, that’s really the essence of it. Isn't it?! If I reach my target, I promise to do something crazy for you!! 1.
