iC2 PrepHouse is Singapore’s first and only
institution of its kind. It provides structured educational and rehabilitative
programmes aimed at empowering and enabling children and youths with visual
impairments to live life confidently, independently and and to maximize their
potential. We support those with low vision and ensure that they continue their
education in mainstream settings.
Our programmes are tailored to the needs of
the child based on specialized assessments. Programme fees are heavily
subsidized so that more visually impaired children can benefit from our support
services. Since inception in 2012, iC2 has
provided customized
structured
programmes for children with visual impairment. At iC2, we recognize that individuals with vision disabilities require special care and attention. Specifically, children are an important and unique group
of the visually impaired, with special needs that had frequently been left unaddressed
previously.
In order to maximize
these visually impaired children’s lifelong success, the first step is to implement a meaningful education programme. We believe that it is paramount for children with disabilities to integrate with the mainstream as much
as possible.
This allows them to grow up as confident
children, with equal opportunities in life. Hence, the main agenda of iC2 is to equip these children with visual impairment, aged 0 – 22 years, with the necessary skills so
that they are able to stay in mainstream schools and access the same materials as their peers do.
