Salyansthan Secondary School is a community school on the outskirts of Kathmandu, Nepal, that serves the underprivileged members of the rural community, many of whom were affected by the earthquake in 2015. The students' ages range from 2-17.

Many of the students in the schools come from very underprivileged families and a significant number of them are orphans.

The school has been running on the good will of it's principal, local and foreign NGOs, as well as past volunteers.

Poor hygiene standards, as seen from the condition of the toilets in the pictures above, have left students susceptible to illness, with many students enduring sickness for prolonged periods of time.

This fundraising effort is going towards paying for among other things, students' uniforms, shoes and socks for toddlers, playgroup class resources, upgrading facilities to be more hygienic, teachers' meals and the basic medical needs of the students.

Living in a society with poor social mobility and a lack of opportunities, these children are all but condemned to being part of a vicious poverty cycle. We hope that this fundraising effort will contribute towards a better education for the students of Salyansthan Secondary School and that it will allow them to hope for and strive towards a better future for themselves.
