TRUEfund

“TRUE” stands for Transplant Research, Unique patient care and Education. Established in 2010, the fund was set up in aid of needy transplant patients and to support patient and public education activities, and research initiatives related to transplant medicine.
Patient Care
One of TRUEfund’s missions is to support needy transplant patients. Organ/tissue transplantation is costly and patients are medically unfit to return back to work for at least three to six months post-transplant. During this crucial period, patients are closely monitored by the transplant team to ensure smooth recovery. In order to prevent common problems such as graft failure, graft-versus-host diseases, opportunistic infections, post-transplants patients are required to undergo many tests, take a number of medications, and visit the doctor frequently. Not being able to work and having to pay for these expenses leave many transplant patients in financial dire. TRUEfund provides financial aid to these needy patients to ensure that their basic needs are met and they can focus on recovery well.
TRUEfund also supports patient education initiatives that help transplant patients to care for their newly transplanted organ or tissue.
Public Outreach
TRUEfund provides partial funding for events and activities organised with the intent to educate the public about the life-saving importance of organ and tissue donation and transplantation.
Research
To encourage cross-institutional collaboration, TRUEfund offers initial funding for any transplant–related research projects initiated and principally investigated by physicians among SingHealth Transplant’s transplant programmes. The fund will only be awarded if the findings are potentially beneficial and have the ability to be translated to clinical quality improvement which can be implemented by the transplant programmes.

TRUEfund is managed by SingHealth Foundation, an institution of Public Character (UEN: T02CC1576B)
SingHealth Foundation, established in 2002, is governed by a Board of Trustees. The Board members are leaders in healthcare industry and community with strong ties to business and philanthropic organisations.
