Seeking refuge in Malaysia has not been an easy task for the Zomi people. forming the largest ethnic sub-group of the Chin people from Myanmar, Zomi refugees are not given legal statuses in Malaysia, due to Malaysia's decision to not ratify the 1951 united Nations convention on the status of refugees and its 1967 protocol. Thus, Zomi refugees are seen as illegal immigrants, depriving them of basic human rights, such as access to government education and healthcare.
We hope to be able to raise funds to help the Zomi refugees, particularly the children, gain access to school supplies, an education centre, and food. As of now, the goal is to raise up to RM6000 a month as RM2500 will go towards rent payments, RM1500 to food, and RM 2000 to the salaries of two teachers.
Well done. Keep up the good work and all the best.
