Hi, thank you for visiting my personal fundraising page.
As many of you may know, I have decided to take the next 6 months off on a sabbatical leave, to travel through Central and South America with my friend Stanley, looking for the Ancient and Natural Wonders of the World, to enrich ourselves at the same time to better appreciate the planet we live on.
Our journey will take us from diving into the oceans of the Galapagos Islands where Charles Darwin founded the theory of evolution; to trekking through the foot prints of the ancient Inca Civilisation of Peru; to floating through the world's largest remaining rain forest habitat the Amazonian Basin; to witnessing the grandeur of the great Iguazu Falls; to tangoing on the colourful and historic streets of Buenos Ares; to roaming through the icecaps of the Patagonian Glaciers; to hopefully uncovering the mysteries of the "2012 theory" at the ancient Mayan sites of Mexico....
The list of the World's Wonders we will attempt to visit include:
Amazon Rainforest, Brazil and others
Chichen Itza, Mexico
Colca Canyon, Peru
Galapagos Islands, Ecuador
Great Blue Hole, Belize
Harbour of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Iguazu Falls, Brazil/Argentina
Machu Picchu, Peru
Perito Moreno Glacier, Argentina
All of this is not without a cause. I was born in Shanghai China, and spent most of my childhood in this most populous country in the world. In the last 15 yrs the country saw some remarkable changes and the transformation is ongoing, it is now commonly branded as "The Engine of Growth", or "The Awakening Dragon" etc… but as the country's income gap continues to widen, with as much as 70% of the population still living in the rural areas, social issues such as poverty, inequality, discrimination and lack of protection and education for children still exists in many poorer parts of the country.
As high flying, jet setting, upper class white collar citizens of the world as many of you are, what can you and I do together to make a difference?
Save the Children Hong Kong is part of the International Save the Children Alliance - the world's largest independent child rights development organization working in over 120 countries, the Hong Kong office acts as a channel of funding for projects in Mainland China, and fortunately enough, the charity can see through our donations towards Co-funding a particular project, in this case:
