Hi everyone, this is Jeff from HKUST. As young people, we’re facing an overwhelming wave of unprecedented challenges—academic pressure, career uncertainty, and family struggles. Like many others, I’ve always tried to tell myself that I’m strong, that I can handle it all mentally. But on some nights, when I’m alone, the sadness quietly creeps in, bringing back painful memories I thought I had left behind. In those moments, I turn to my friends or sports to find some relief and regain my strength. There are countless untold stories like mine across Hong Kong—stories of young people fighting silent battles. Sadly, not everyone finds a way to cope. Far too many turn to devastating solutions like drug and alcohol abuse, or even suicide. In fact, on average, three young lives are lost to suicide every week in Hong Kong. This is where KELY steps in. KELY works with youth from all walks of life in Hong Kong, empowering them with the tools to protect their mental health and build resilience. They provide education, support, and hope—helping young people navigate their struggles and emerge stronger.
