The National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM)

The National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM) is a not-for-profit organization established in 1966 providing education, care and support services for people affected by cancer. It is the first cancer-related not-for-profit organization in Malaysia that provides an extensive range of cancer services and support to the public.

NCSM's mission is "To ensure that no Malaysian fears cancer by creating an understanding of cancer that leads to prevention and early detection, and by providing the best possible care and support for those affected by cancer."

Motto and Objectives 
In line with its motto, "Giving Hope. Celebrating Life." NCSM aims to:
  • Educate – To minimise cancer in Malaysia by raising public awareness on the prevention, screening and early detection of cancer through education
  • Care – To increase access to cancer services in Malaysia by providing affordable as well as advanced screening and diagnostic facilities
  • Support – To empower individuals and those affected with cancer to maintain the highest possible quality of life

What We Do
NCSM offers a holistic range of cancer-related services to cancer patients, caregivers and the public.
  • Cancer and Heath Screening Clinic 
    This is a one-stop health and cancer screening diagnostic center for men and women of all ages. Services include digital mammography, ultrasound, biopsy, Pap Smear, HPV vaccinations, bone density tests, colon cancer screening and supportive services such as breast prosthesis fittings and teaching of breast self-examination.
  • Nuclear Medicine Centre
    This is a referral center where medical specialists from other hospitals refer their patients for nuclear medicine imaging to provide diagnosis on cancer spread (metastasis) in organs and bones before initiating surgery, radiotherapy or chemotherapy.
  • Resource and Wellness Centre 
    This is a one-stop information and support centre for patients, survivors as well as caregivers. The centre offers programmes and services to help people with cancer and their loved ones to understand cancer, manage their lives through treatment, recovery and find emotional support.
  • Cancer Information Service 
    This is a national and multilingual helpline service (1-800-88-1000) that provides information and support to those affected by cancer. Trained cancer information staff are available via phone, email or live chat providing clear and credible information about cancer to cancer patients, their family and friends, the general public as well as healthcare professionals and connect them with valueable services and resources in their communities.
  • Quit Smoking Clinic 
    This is a one-stop support centre to help people to quit smoking. Services included medical help and counselling support by the smoking cessation specialist.
  • Children's Home of Hope 
    This home provides comfortable and affordable accommodation for children with cancer and their caregivers from outstation while they undergo treatment at the Paediatric Institute of the Hospital Kuala Lumpur.

How You Can Help
NCSM is financed entirely by voluntary contributions from the public. NCSM's service charges are either subsidised or offered free to eligible persons. Your donation will help NCSM to continue in providing a holistic range of cancer-related services and support to cancer patients and caregivers.
